Purpose/Mission

What is P.A.D.S.? DuPage P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) is committed to providing safe and hospitable shelter, support services and advocacy to people who are homeless in DuPage County. Vital to this commitment is their collaboration with religious and community groups in the county.

dupage padsThe overnight shelter program offers men, women, and children a safe enviornment. The spirit of hospitality is a priority, as well as the respect for each person. Staff and Volunteers provide dinner, breakfast, and a bag lunch, sleeping space, and support activities. The overnight shelter is housed in different churches and congregations each night of the week from October-April.

Volunteer opportunities

When there is a 5th Thursday in the month, Resurrection provides food for the shelter. Donate a homemade dish for dinner, provide items needed for breakfast or a bag lunch. Items can be dropped off in the Resurrection parking lot between 5:30pm-6:00pm and they will be transported to the site by our food coordinators.

Resurrection Volunteers assist at the First United Methodist Church in West Chicago on Thursday evenings from October-April.

Four shifts are available:

  • 6:30pm-9:00pm (serving dinner)
  • 9:00pm-1:00am
  • 1:00am-5:00am
  • 5:00am-7:30am (serving breakfast, clean-up)
