human trafficking presentation 23oct19With 15 to 20 thousand women and children at risk to be trafficked in the Chicagoland region (Raphael, J. & Shapiro, D.L. 2002), sex trafficking is the second most lucrative criminal enterprise in the United States.

The average age of entry into the life of trafficking is 12-14 years of age, and recruitment of these young girls and boys often happens through social media and online grooming tactics. 62% of those being trafficked are/were under the age of 18 when they became a victim of their trafficker. 7 years is the average life expectancy once an individual enters the sex industry, with homicide and AIDS being the top killers.

Sex trafficking is a $32 BILLION industry! It is the world’s 2nd largest criminal enterprise behind only the drug trade. It is the fastest-growing criminal enterprise

On January 31, 2020, at 7:00 pm, Resurrection Parish will sponsor a program presented by the Department of Homeland Security talking about the effects of Human Sex Trafficking in our communities.
