COME, YE THANKFUL PEOPLE, COME!
On Thanksgiving Day, we take time to cherish and give thanks for what is truly important - food and health, family and friends, justice and beauty, goodness and grace. This day can also be a stinging reminder of hunger or homelessness, a broken family or broken health - a world less hospitable to God’s creatures.
Thanksgiving Day beckons us to rejoice in the efforts of responsible farmers, gardeners, ranchers, miners, and conservationists - of all people who help bring forth the bounty of the harvest. At the same time, the goodness of this good earth speaks to us of the urgent and difficult work needed to heal the planet and to care for it so that it will continue to sustain all living species.
For all these reasons and those too numerous to recount, let us gather together to give thanks.....on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, there will be a 9:00 am Mass in church. During the preparation of the gifts, there will be a collection for our food pantry. Please bring one of the following items: canned soup; canned fruit or vegetables, pasta or jelly.
Come, Ye Thankful People, Come!
