Welcome to the Faith Formation Ministry for Children and Youth! Faith Formation for this 2024-2025 catechetical year will begin in September. We encourage you to complete the entire registration as soon as possible, including the tuition payment, to ensure the best selection of class days and times. Please note that our options have been updated to better serve our families and also include parents in the faith formation of their children.

Below, you will find important and necessary information regarding our Faith Formation and Sacramental policies. All of our policies are in keeping with the directives established by the Diocese of Joliet. We will continue to maintain the quality and integrity of our programs, that have been a long-standing Resurrection Catholic tradition for over 30 years.

As we continue to move forward, our staff is available and ready to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding the religious formation of your child or teen. We thank you for allowing us to accompany your children, youth, and family through their faith formation journey.

Session Preferences

Sunday Family Faith Formation Attendance policy. At least one parent needs to be at each monthly session, along with their children/youth. This is to ensure that you receive the catechesis for the family and stay up-to-date with the program.

Weekly Faith Formation Attendance policy. Two (2) absences without notification indicate a need for a parent/director conference. Three (3) absences in a semester question the readiness of sacraments or advancements to the next grade level.

Service Saturday/Sunday (One Per Semester)

This will be an opportunity to do a family service project together at Resurrection. We will provide the service projects.

Photo Release to Resurrection Catholic Church

Video and still photos are sometimes taken during Faith Formation class events and Sacramental retreats and celebrations. Registration in our Faith Formation and Youth Ministry programs and activities constitutes permission for Resurrection to use video or still photographs for parish, social media, and promotional use. I grant permission for Resurrection to photograph and/or videotape our child(ren).

Medical Permission Statement

I grant permission for the administration of First Aid to my child(ren), by the people in charge of Resurrection Faith Formation and those transporting my child(ren) to and from the program as their judgement deems advisable, and to make the necessary referrals to qualified physicians for the treatment of illness or accidents of a more serious nature. I understand I will be promptly notified in the event of any serious illness or accident and prior to any major surgery, except when delay in such communication would endanger life. In the case of a medical emergency, I understand that every effort will be made to contact the parent/guardian of the participant. In the event that I cannot be reached, I hereby give permission to the physicians selected by the adult staff to hospitalize, secure any proper medical treatment deemed necessary for my child.

Protecting God's Children Mandatory Session for Volunteers

Have you completed your mandatory diocesan Protecting God’s Children certification? This one-time session is required for all volunteers and is offered online. If you have not completed this certification, please register at www.virtus.org.

The Faith Formation of our children and youth focuses on four integrated components: Worship, Word, Welcome, and Witness. This comprehensive approach requires and invites your direct involvement and support. All households are asked to indicate at least one area in which your family can make a commitment to our children and youth.

The income generated by our fees only cover a portion of the costs of our operating expenses. Our parish continues to subsidize the costs of our programs with your weekly Sunday giving. Please continue to be as generous as possible.

Sacramental Fees per child

All children and youth requesting the celebration of First Communion and Confirmation must fulfill the diocesan and parish policy of two consecutive years of faith formation prior to the reception or sacaments. A candidate for the sacraments is expected to fully participate in the parish formation outlined by the pastoral staff.

1^st Reconciliation & 1^st Communion: $80
Paid during the 2nd year of preparation (usually 2nd grade)

Pre-Confirmation Year-1 (8^th Grade): $50

Confirmation Year-2 (9^th Grade): $50
